Asian Noodles On A Budget

As always, I cannot take full credit for this recipe! This came across my feed on Tiktok and it looked SOOOO good I had to try it!

I don’t typically like to eat Ramen. Much like most of us in college, we lived on the stuff! I’ve avoided it for years simply because I think I grew an aversion to it as a freshman in college, so when I saw this little hack, I got excited all over again that those cheapo ramen packets might actually have purpose again!

While this isn’t necessarily a HEALTHY choice, it is however a budget friendly one. You can pick these babies up for pennies at your local grocery store. You can also buy just the noodles as well int he asian isle I believe.

BONUS: My kids loved it!

Ingredients:

3 tablespoons of brown sugar {or honey}

1/4 of a cup of soy sauce

1 tablespoon of minced garlic

1 packet of ramen {JUST THE NOODLES}

1 egg

Red Pepper Flakes {optional}

Directions:

  1. Fill a pot with water and cook JUST the noodles only to al dente or a little firmer than al dente.
  2. Strain noodles and set aside
  3. In a medium pan, combine soy sauce, garlic, brown sugar, and pepper flakes to cook on medium heat, stirring constantly to avoid scalding.
  4. Once your sauce is starting to reduce, add your strained noodles and stir to coat everything.
  5. Once the sauce has completely combined with your noodles leaving nothing pooling in the bottom of the pan, slide your noodles over to one side of the pan and cook your egg on the empty side of the pan
  6. With the egg is mostly scrambled, mix with your noodles.

Enjoy! PS: My family doubled the recipe for 3 of us!
